There are over 300 LOVE signs that are located and scattered around Virginia. From Welcome Centers along interstates (and US 13), to State Parks, downtowns, wineries, more visitors centers and more, out of 133 counties and cities (county-equivalents) in Virginia, 112 of them have LOVE signs while 21 do not.
Looking at the places that do have these lovely signs, this list highlights my opinion of what I believe the top 20 best LOVE signs that are scattered throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia are, and the list entries have information about them, describing the sign, with pictures for the ones I've personally visited (The ranking comes from me looking at images of them online, on Google Maps or the official Virginia Tourism Website).
20. Leesburg
A very simple design, but a very good design sits on Harrison Street south of Downtown Leesburg. This LOVE sign is designed with the L, V, and E being filled with little circle tires, while the O is one big tire. The whole sign is surrounded by nice plants and decoration.

This one I have actually visited on a road trip I took on February 7th, 2025. The design is made out of kayaks and is on the side of the wall of the Appomattox River Company building on VA-45 just north of the Appomattox River on the Cumberland County side.
Address: 614 N Main St, Farmville, VA 23901

The LOVE sign just north of Farmville, ranked #19.
18. Lee Hall

Food lovers would love this LOVE sign. The entire design is filled with food themes and designs. The L on the sign is shaped as the edge of a cup of coffee, complete with the name of the business and its address. The O, like the Lynchburg entry, is shaped as a donut, this time with blue frosting.
The V in this is a slice of pizza that has multiple toppings. The E is written with the words "GLAZE AND GRIND", designed with a fork on the left side of the letter. The entire word is layered over a painted blue fence which is next to the parking lot of the business, Dough Haus in Newport News.

17. Harrisonburg
A very diverse LOVE sign, the L is covered in many items from different cultures and nations around the world. The O is made out of wooden planks, designed into the letter, while the V is created as a frame with repurposed bicycles all crafted into the letter V. The E is a black and white chalkboard and whiteboard which artists can actually display some of their works.

16. Lynchburg
One of, if not the most unique LOVE sign in Virginia is located along the James River in Lynchburg. This is one of numerous signs in the city and this is the best one out of these. The LOVE sign isn't actually a sign, but rather the side of a train caboose which you can actually rent out and stay in overnight!

Located next to US 58 ALT/US 421 at Pennington Middle School in Pennington Gap, this LOVE sign has a yellow L with circles in the design, the O is a very colorful artwork, the V is painted as some plants. The E is a small piece of a railroad track facing the road.

10. Smith Mtn. Lake
I believe this is the only LOVE sign in Virginia to feature other LOVE signs on it. The entire word features a drawing/painting of Smith Mountain Lake and the surrounding communities, with the L featuring the community of Moneta and the D-Day memorial in Bedford County, which this part of the design also features the LOVE sign located there.
The O features the Visitor Center where this LOVE sign is located on the wall. Also on the letter is multiple boats in the lake. Lastly, the E is a yellow outline with what appears to be a play-place for crabs or other creatures inside the letter.

The V is two wooden beams, and the E is made of some steel pipes.

5. Appalachia
The 5th best LOVE sign in Virginia is located at the intersection of US 23 Business and VA-68, and the sign shows a tunnel through the mountains on the L, a person kayaking on a river (presumably the Powell River) for the O, another mountain with a shield for Virginia Primary Route 160 (VA-160, which comes close to the intersection and sign) for the V, and finally the words "WE ARE APPALACHIA" written over a mountain background as the E.
Address: 701 W Main St, Appalachia, VA 24216
4. Lovingston
The goodness in this LOVE sign isn't in the letters, which are all simply wood, but it's in the background. Behind the L is a sunset on the Blue Ridge Mountains, and behind the O is a field with some trees. The V has a vineyard in the mountains behind it, and the E has a family looking at the moon and stars.
Address: 645 Front St, Lovingston, VA 22949
3. Parksley
The second and highest-ranking LOVE sign entry on the Eastern Shore is wonderful for rail-geeks and railroad/train enthusiasts. This sign is located at the intersection of VA-316 and VA-176 in Parksley.
For the letters, the L has a caboose design, while the O is simply plain white with the hole being a heart (for LOVE). The V is here designed as a railroad crossing sign, and the E is a locomotive. All four of the letters are complete with train wheels at the bottom as the LOVE sign is located right next to an abandoned railroad.

A somewhat simple, yet very stunning LOVE sign is located north of Downtown Portsmouth. The entire word is standing on a row with the word "Portsmouth" labelled on it. The O is a yellow sun over a white letter, with the wave continuing under it.

Address: 14 Crawford Pkwy, Portsmouth, VA 23704
1. Wytheville
This LOVE sign is what I believe to be the best one in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Located in the town of Wytheville, the sigh has the L which is a railroad crossing sign over a mountain background. Next, the O is a color wheel, while the V is a graphic of I-77 and I-81, which both interstates have a well-known (at least by road-geeks) "wrong-way concurrency" in Wythe County. Finally, the letter E on the LOVE sign has a baseball and bat design.
